Cookie Cutter Girl: Pop Superhero!

Issue #1American-Manga style

Cookie Cutter Girl is a modern day Cinderella Story, updated with an Afterlife Advisor, a Magic Guitar and Perky Pets!

Co-written by Julian and Justine Fontes and produced by Sonic Comics' Ron Fontes. Her old sites shared two finished teaser pages, the pencils and a comic drawn for her CD insert, and the cover is still the banner on her Pop Superhero Facebook page. This page gathers them in one place.

Comic teaser page 3. A packed club at a band contest: Julian sings on stage with a pink guitar under a big "Cookie Cutter Girl" burst sign while the crowd dances. At a table, a woman in green, a man in a teal jacket and a brown cartoon dog with a burger cheer her on. Julian: “I can't believe I'm singing out loud in front of all these people!” Julian: “Sunday was right! I didn't need a band... once I found my girl power!” Woman in green: “I'm so proud of Jules!” Man in a teal jacket: “She's even more beautiful when she sings!” Brown dog: “Her song is even better than this burger!”
Comic teaser page 4. Outside a Music Club at night, Julian stands up to a huge glowing villain, powers up into Cookie Cutter Girl, and knocks him back down to an ordinary man. Villain: “You're NOTHING without me and you know it!” Julian: “No... I have girl power now!” Julian: “I can't give in to his BRAINWASHING. I am someone special. I do have gifts to give the world.” Yellow bird: “Fly above the ugliness, girl! See how BIG you can be, not how small he wants to make you.” Julian: “You can't talk to me like that any more!” Villain: “Who's going to stop me?” Julian: “I am!” Villain: “Oh, I see... you're not a singer: you're a comedian. No, wait... you're a joke!” Julian: “Laugh this off, loser!” Villain: “How is she so strong... and fast?!” Villain: “Wow! It feels like there's a force field coming off her!” Julian: “I'm free! You can't push me around anymore... and you can't hold me back!” Villain: “Oh yeah? Well, I can still kick the crap out of you!” Julian: “This is more than just karate training... I remember what happened in my apartment now! I am... Cookie Cutter Girl... and I have girl power!” Villain, thinking: “The glowing belt seems to be the source of her power. She'd become weak if I...” Villain: “...Got it!” Julian: “Oh no!” Julian: “I've lost my SUPER STRENGTH! But that PUNCH just might do the trick.” Villain: “Ow!” Julian, thinking: “It's all so confusing! One minute I'm a SUPER HERO battling a SUPER VILLAIN and the next... how could I have ever been so afraid of such a geek?”
Pencil art for comic page 1, with empty word balloons and no lettering yet: a man winks from a round mirror, Julian reacts in surprise and then smiles, and a dog, a cat and a parrot crowd the panels.
Pencil character design for Cookie Cutter Girl: standing tall with long flowing hair, in a bustier, a jeweled belt, wrist cuffs and a choker.
Color-ink poster by Ron Fontes of Sonic Comics: chrome pink "Cookie Cutter Girl" lettering over Cookie Cutter Girl, masked, one fist raised and a pink acoustic guitar in her other hand, back to back with a red-suited villain with a skull and crossbones on his chest. A Sonic Comics logo sits in the top corner. Title: “Cookie Cutter Girl”
Pencil fan art by Alpha Robbi: a scowling Cookie Cutter Girl glances back over her shoulder beside big grey "Cookie Cutter Girl" lettering. Title: “Cookie Cutter Girl”

The CD insert comic

Five panels were drawn for the insert of her "Cookie Cutter Girl" CD. Panels 2 to 5 were on her sites by 2004. Art by Reece Friesen of AspireComicBookArt.com.

  1. Panel 2. A flaming giant looms behind a man in a skull tank top, who yells down at Julian, crouched on the floor. Man in a skull tank top: “What's WRONG with you NOW!?!” “YOU'RE PATHETIC” “NOONE LIKES YOU!” “Can't take it? Keep Crying...WHO CARES?!”
  2. Panel 3. The payoff: the masked Cookie Cutter Girl punches the flaming giant in the face. Below, Julian, now in pink, points at the man in the skull tank top, with a green parrot and a small black and white pet at her feet. Cookie Cutter Girl: “Now you can "take it" somewhere else!” Julian: “I've "taken it" for years and I am stronger than you know!”
  3. Panel 4. A purple bar. A man in a red shirt paws a blonde woman on a bar stool while Julian, in pink, watches beside a woman in green. Close-ups: Julian's belt buckle flashes, the blonde woman's hair lights up, and she turns on the man. “Oh look... Another poor guy who's just "misunderstood."” “Let ME clear things up!” “I heard you insult me the first time... and it's the last one too!”
  4. Panel 5. Cookie Cutter Girl bursts out of a pink star while three women, in yellow, green and pink, hold hands in a ring around her. “Cookie Cutter Girls Unite...” “Break the Mold!”

Meet the Cutter Crew

The cast in her own words, from the characters page of her old site. That page gave most of them a signature color, so their cards wear it.

Heroes

  • Cookie Cutter Girl

    aka "CCG", "Cutter"

    Girl Power Pop Superhero

This Girl Power Goddess is freeing women of all ages from the cookie cutter "mold" that holds them captive. (on her hot pink motorcycle, with "Lil Stinker" in the sidecar!)

Color key: hot pink, black + silver

  • Julian

    aka "Jules"

CCG's all too human alter ego... and the first "cookie cutter" girl Cutter freed

Works as an assistant DA, which gives her access to many bad guys. Conservative looking compared to CCG (hair tied back, hat... early on glasses too!).

    Color key: hot pink

  • Sunday

Her funny, ghostly advisor, "a REAL LADY'S MAN"

Julian's guitar teacher, music partner and mentor. Being a ghost, he can ONLY appear to Julian in MIRRORS, usually through the piped in music in public restrooms! It is SUNDAY'S LOVE that initially empowered JULIAN'S HOT PINK GUITAR.

    Color key: blue

Perky Pets

  • Lil Stinker

    CCG's crime-fighting canine

Julian's adorable 5lb male, Super Dog in her Scooter's sidecar. This dog is truly 5lbs of attitude & lives in constant battle for dominance with Stardust. This Lil Stinker is the "comic relief" in the stories and gets all the "punchlines." How does he help CCG? He'll bite your ankles!

    LIL STINKER TO... THE RESCUE!

    Meet the real Super Dog

  • Shadow

    CCG's power parrot

The fierce, feathered friend who gives her Super Sight. Shadow was Sunday's bird & has Superpowers! Many panels focus on Shadow's eyes, whose pupils feature CCG's Superhero shield.

    SEE WHAT I SEE, CCG!

  • Stardust

    CCG's super cat

The fond, feline force giving CCG Super Strength & Speed. A TRAIL OF MAGIC SPARKLES ALWAYS CLOUDS AROUND STARDUST... Perhaps, this Super Cat is the spirit of Sunday reborn?

    MAGIC POWDER, GIVE HER POWER!

Friends

  • Jax

Her best friend, "like Mother Earth"

Pretty and full figured, she reminds us that ALL women are gorgeous creatures, not just "cookie cutter" looking, skinny ones. She is in green in cell #4.

    Color key: lime green

  • Jenny

Her other girlfriend, a Goth Girl

A GOTH GIRL: PALE FACE, w/ BLACK HAIR/EYELINER/LIPS.

    Color key: purple

  • Lil' Sis

    Her pre-teen sister

A computer whiz kid who helps Julian solve all the "mysteries," and nail the bad guys, by hacking info off the web. She solves the crimes, but Julian gets the credit.

    Color key: yellow

  • Shihan

Her martial arts instructor (United Kosho)

Julian's self defense training aids her, and "Cutter," in her battle for the good of womankind.

    Color key: black/white

Villains

  • The Dominator

SYD's alter ego and her arch enemy

RED FLAMES FUELED BY FURY, SYD's super villain battles "CCG" in a Girl Power struggle between GOOD and EVIL! He is the fiery figure in CD PANEL #3. It is SYD'S ANGER that initially empowered JULIAN'S ORANGE GUITAR with the MAGICAL FIRE POWER she uses against him!

    Color key: red flames
